In Switzerland, strict guidelines apply to noise emissions, which are defined in the Noise Abatement Ordinance with planning values. These must be adhered to. For the geothermal projects of Geo-Energie Suisse AG, the limit values for industrial and commercial noise apply, which contain stricter requirements than those for ordinary construction sites.
Comprehensive expert studies have concluded that modern drilling rigs and suitable technical noise protection measures for subsequent operation can be used to comply with the strict limit values. This is confirmed by many examples of deep drilling in large cities, such as Zurich and Munich. The deep well in Zurich was drilled right next to the Triemli city hospital. 2
