Geo-Energie Suisse works closely with various national and international research institutions. It has a particularly close cooperation with the federally established SCCER-SoE (The Swiss Competence Center for Energy Research - Supply of Electricity). Its aim is to conduct innovative and sustainable research in the fields of geoenergy and hydropower. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, various universities and other research centres are involved. The work at the Grimsel Test Site, for example, is an important part of the SCCER-SoE. In 2017, experiments in the field of in-situ stimulation and circulation were carried out and evaluated there. Geo-Energie Suisse is involved in the work as an industrial partner.

Another rock laboratory was built in the Gotthard region, even deeper in the rock than the Grimsel rock laboratory. Work for the ZoDrEx project was also carried out in the Bedretto Rock Laboratory. ZoDrEx is an international project funded under the GEOTHERMICA programme, in which Geo-Energie Suisse AG is also involved as an industrial partner.
